Two separate polls have recently come out showing that the American people are becoming increasingly suspicious about the President’s ties to Islam. A study by the Pew Research Center found that 18% think that Obama is a Muslim. The results of a Time Magazine poll were higher, showing that 24% of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim.

Are these 18-24% of Americans completely detached from reality? Or are Americans finally waking up to the truth?

Both stories linked above describe those who believe this about the President as incorrect and mistaken. Rather than simply reporting the findings, these journalists are revealing their bias in defending Obama from these claims. Alan Fram, the AP writer who wrote about the Pew study, took this bias an extra step, saying, “The proportion who correctly say he is a Christian is down to just 34 percent.” (The Time result was 47%.)

Correctly? What indication do we have that Obama is a Christian? Even if we define “Christian” as loosely as many do, is it not still a stretch to say Obama is a Christian?

But is it a stretch to say Obama is a Muslim? Certainly, a case can be made. He recently spoke out in support of the Ground Zero mosque while hosting a Ramadan dinner at the White House. He has also slipped in an interview and mentioned “my Muslim faith,” allegedly told the Egyptian foreign minister that he was a Muslim, bowed humbly before the Saudi king, and many other things detailed here.

But if Obama is a Muslim, why won’t he come out clearly and say it? Surely to lie about one’s faith is a serious sin. For the Christian, it is. Therefore many believe the same must be true for the Muslim. But it is not. Islam teaches the doctrine of the taqiyya, which permits Muslims to lie if it is to advance the cause of Islam.

Hypothetically speaking, if you had a Muslim President, he could try to keep his Muslim faith a secret and say anything in order to advance the cause of Islam (such as building a mosque at the site of the deadly Islamic attack on American soil, refusing to support Israel when Hamas sympathizers attacked Israeli forces who tried to inspect their ship, appointing justices to the Supreme Court who would be open to Sharia Law, etc.). Again, this is just a hypothetical situation.

But all of this should raise the question: Has Obama been working to help the cause of Islam? Without hesitation, the answer to that question is yes.

So, is Obama is a Muslim, or not? I don’t believe we can answer that definitively. But there is enough evidence to raise the question. It should not be so quickly dismissed by the administration’s public relations volunteers in the media. This is not a trivial matter. The goal of Islam is to take over the world. To have a President that is a Muslim, or wants to appease the proponents of Islam, threatens our national security and the freedoms that we have too often taken for granted in this country.
