Ammunition Control

Unsuccessful in their attempts to completely nullify the Second Amendment, progressives have now turned their attention to those little objects that make weapons effective: bullets! Governor Schwarzenegger just signed legislation in California which requires purchasers of ammunition to be fingerprinted, and requires sellers to maintain sales records for 5 years. Similar types of ammunition control are being enacted elsewhere. One proposed legislation requires that all bullets be ID stamped, and that all existing ammunition be destroyed. Huge fines and potential jail time would punish those who do not turn in their existing ammo. I have no doubt that the government is using the gun violence “crisis” to circumvent 2nd amendment rights and implications.

The (ill-conceived) theory  is that this legislation will help law enforcement to track criminals. This is just another law for those who, by practice and definition, don’t obey laws. (That’s why we call them “criminals.”) The California law is based upon the assumption that criminals acquire their ammunition from stores. Interesting…

My advice for patriots while progressives control our government: Buy loaded ammo if you can find it. Save all of the pistol and rifle brass that you fire and can obtain from others who aren’t interested in keeping it for themselves. Store it in containers to protect it from corrosion. Don’t worry about the caliber, because brass can be traded among those using different calibers. Buy primers, precast bullets, or buy casts and bulk lead. Buy a reloader, or get to know someone who owns one. Most importantly, be prepared to ignore government laws banning possession of such materials and equipment! Despisers of our Constitution may not understand or like this, but the second amendment includes and authorizes all that is necessary to enable “arms” to be used to defend and protect themselves and others. This includes ammunition.

  1. There are other ways to reduce one’s ammo supply than by turning it in.

It really is a shame that the government is trying to make criminals out of otherwise law-abiding citizens, rather than allowing people to defend themselves from those who would do harm to them or their families.

When I say it’s a shame, I don’t mean, “oh, that’s too bad,” but that this is truly shameful that they would even consider this.
