Andy, that is great. Impressionable young minds will undoubtedly be affected by Obama's presentation. Rather than learning about the mechanics of a representative Republic, they will see one pompous and presumptuous individual intent upon single-handedly bringing immense "change" in the lives of his unassuming audience. They will be impressed with the concept of a powerful leader who has the ability to change the course of history by his own charm and charisma.

Incidentally, some have attempted to defend Obama's nationwide school address by pointing out that Reagan and Bush also spoke to school kids. It is indeed possible that some of us may simply be inconsistent on this point. Of course, we had absolutely no reason to believe that either Reagan or Bush were attempting to exert influence over children for their own personal and political ambitions. With Obama, this motive is certain. His entire presidency thus far has been to acquire and concentrate all political power in the White House. Reagan and (HW) Bush respected the office of the presidency and knew their CONSTITUTIONAL limitations - Barack Obama respects neither the presidency nor the Constitution.

@1: I have a good memory, on some things at least.

@2: Patty, you're right. Americans should have seen this coming. Finally now it appears that many of them are waking up. I'm hoping it's enough to swing the Congress back to Republican control in the 2010 elections. And hopefully the Republicans will understand they need to be conservatives to stay in office.

It seem no matter what Obama does now he kicks up a ruckas. But he can't stay off the TV. Does he ever do any work? What are we paying him for? Vacations and unending campaigning...I'll be so glad when 2021 gets here and he gets voted out! He and all his cronies, beginning in 2010. He has lied to American voters, partially because they simply voted and didn't do any research! In a way they are getting what they wanted, the only thing is we are all suffering because of them. If they weren't so stupid, they would have watched a network like Fox and have gotten informed. Many of us studied the man for months before and we knew what he was all about. We saw Rev. Wright and Bill Ayres and his other liberal friends and we knew he was not a true American in his heart. He does not hold the Constitution sacred, nor our values. He is a one termer!

I'm amazed that you remember those long-ago elections! I don't remember who was running against Madeline, but I do know that she was tough to work for! And Dukakis? Who knows what platform he was running on? I sure don't. I voted for Bush -- couldn't tell you why now, though.

Good observations. I'm just really uncomfortable thinking about what Tuesday's speech will be (or would have been had this uproar not ensued). I'm sure it'll just be a rah-rah for education now.
