It is important that we are fair in our comments about President Barack Obama. This includes criticizing him for unwise and unconstitutional proposals and policies. But we should be willing to acknowledge his good accomplishments and commend him accordingly.
It has been easy, almost too easy, to criticize Obama in his first five months in office: soaring deficits, climbing unemployment, takeovers of the auto companies and banks, appointing tax cheats to cabinet positions and an admittedly biased judge to the Supreme Court, etc. But today I came across a story that shows that the things we know about Obama are not all negative.
During an interview on Tuesday, a fly was buzzing around and annoying the President. Obama waited for the fly to land, and then smacked it with his hand, killing it. Obama, obviously pleased with himself, said, “That was pretty impressive, wasn’t it? I got the sucker.” (video below)
So I want to commend the President for his quick reflexes, good hand-eye coordination, and for the fact that he upset the people at PETA.
I know it’s not much. But right now it’s about all I’ve got.
